I found this guy close to the hotel, in Falsterbo, we stayed in. On the shore that turns toward Denmark. I only spotted 2 of them this evening. It was getting dark as it was after dinner. Due to the setting sun there is a slight glow on teh bird. A new bird on my blog. :)

Today I show you a little bird that turned out to be surprisingly beautiful. I have seen it once before in a distance. So I did not really see what it looked like then. But now, up close, I could really see it´s beauty. Isn´t it great to visit a ringing session? This bird is rare where I live so this was great. Later on we also spotted one in some bushes at the shore. Maybe the same one? Who knows? :)

When I was in Falsterbo we was introduced to ringing birds. The first day we learned a bit of the history and about the area we were in. More of that will be found on my Travel blog. The first bird we were  shown was a Chiffchaff. It was already ringed but we learned  a bit about it. One characteristic for this bird compared to similar ones is the dark cheek that make the bright ring around the eye stand out.

I really should need to work with the birds on a station for some time.

I think this bird was the one I liked the best when it comes to raptors. It was a lifer to me and it was so beautiful. and, for once, easily recognizable. Even in a distanze you could recognize it on the tail and how it worked the tail. I loved it. It can only be found in the southern part of Sweden. So I was glad to see it.

All of a sudden the lake isfilled with migrating ducks. I think I spotted about 10 different species. They will probably stay for about two weeks. Sadly I had no time o really study this, as I´ve been helping my daughter as she is moving. And tomorrow I will go to Falsterbo Observatory in the southern part of Sweden.
They say a lot  of migrating birds are passing there this time of year. So I´m hoping to see a lot.
